Jan van Dam, a family company, was founded in 1901. At that time, the company transported goods using handcarts on land and tow barges on water. When Jan van Dam passed away in 1927, his sons took over the company. They purchased the first truck: a Ford Model T. The current Managing Director, Jan van Dam, is the fourth generation. He took over the company from his father, also called Jan van Dam, in 1989 and transformed the business into a specialist in transporting oversized loads and machines. The fifth generation is now also at work in the company.
Jan van Dam Machine Transport has grown to become a medium-sized company through hard work, creative solutions and a readiness to invest in special equipment. It now offers a total concept for machine logistics together with sister company, Jan van Dam Global Machine Logistics (GML), which was founded in 2009.
